Historical description:
At the beginning of World War II, the German air defense relied on specialized motorized companies, each equipped with 12 automatic anti-aircraft guns. As the Luftwaffe lost air superiority, the need to protect units from attacks by enemy ground-attack and fighter-bomber aircraft became increasingly urgent. Many combat formations of the Wehrmacht began to incorporate anti-aircraft units armed with heavy 88 mm guns, supplemented by 20 mm automatic guns such as the 2 cm Flak 38.
The 2 cm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun entered service in the second half of 1940 and was used by both Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe units. Over time, these small-caliber anti-aircraft guns became the primary means of short-range air defense. By May 1944, the Wehrmacht ground forces had 6,355 single-barreled and 925 quadruple-barreled 20 mm guns.
The full combat crew for the 2 cm Flak 38 consisted of five people; however, in combat conditions, it was often effectively operated by four or even three soldiers performing various tasks.
This model is an excellent choice for military history enthusiasts and modelers who value precision and detail. With the included figures, you can create a realistic scene depicting the crew operating the gun during combat operations.
This kit not only provides satisfaction from building but also allows for a deeper understanding of the role that the 2 cm Flak 38 played in military history.
