A plastic model kit depicting the American Douglas A-1H Skyraider attack aircraft in the livery of the VA-25 unit, known as the "MiG Killers". This 1:72 scale set from the renowned Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa is a limited edition that allows you to recreate the machine that took part in the historic engagement on June 20, 1965, when Skyraider pilots shot down a North Vietnamese MiG-17.

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was a unique design - a powerful, single-engine piston aircraft that served successfully in the jet age. Its massive payload capacity, armor, and ability to loiter over a target for long periods made it indispensable during the Vietnam War for Close Air Support (CAS) and Combat Search and Rescue (RESCAP) missions.

History of the original:

The event of June 20, 1965, went down in aviation history. During a rescue mission over North Vietnam, two Skyraiders from the VA-25 squadron operating from the USS Midway were attacked by a pair of MiG-17 jet fighters. Thanks to the excellent skills of the pilots and the maneuverability of the propeller-driven machines at low speeds, the Americans managed to draw the enemy into a dogfight and shoot down one of the jets using 20 mm cannons.
