History and development of the aircraft:
The Siebel Si 204 was designed as a small, twin-engine transport and training aircraft. Its development began in 1938 at the request of the German Ministry of Aviation, which was looking for a small civil aircraft. It was originally intended to serve as a passenger aircraft for the German airline Deutsche Luft Hansa (DLH), but due to the outbreak of war, its purpose was changed to a training aircraft.
The first prototypes of the Si 204 were delivered as passenger aircraft, but they were quickly converted into training aircraft with a fully glazed cockpit, which facilitated instrument flying. Production took place in various locations, including France and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. A total of 1,216 units of this aircraft were produced by January 1945.
Aero C-3:
After the war, production of the Si 204 continued in Czechoslovakia by Aero Vodochody, where training versions Aero C-3A and C-3B were created. The C-3A was used for crew training, while the C-3B was used for training bombardiers. These versions were produced until 1949, with a total of 179 units produced.
Operational use:
The Si 204 was mainly used in Luftwaffe flight schools and as a transport aircraft for senior officers. After the war, captured units were used in various civilian roles in the USSR, where they served, among other things, in polar aviation. In Czechoslovakia and France, these aircraft were produced and used in various versions, including as passenger and transport aircraft.
