Description
Plastic model helicopter to assemble: AH-1G Cobra and M8A1 US Landing Mat 1:48 ICM 48298
The AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter undoubtedly became one of the symbols of the Vietnam War. Created as a specialized attack helicopter, it began combat operations in the spring of 1967 and immediately demonstrated its high combat capabilities. Equipped with powerful armament, the helicopter could attack various types of ground targets using a six-barrel Minigun machine gun, a 40mm automatic grenade launcher, and rocket launchers and weapon containers mounted on pylons. To provide direct support to ground forces, attack helicopters often operated from airfields located as close to the combat zone as possible. To create such airfields, U.S. Army engineering units used M8A1 steel plates to cover the terrain. The plates were joined in a checkerboard pattern or in rows, allowing for the construction of both small, single positions and large airfields.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
