History and characteristics of the Airbus A330-200:
The Airbus A330-200 is a twin-engine wide-body passenger aircraft designed in response to market needs for aircraft with greater range and lower capacity than its predecessor, the A330-300. The first flight of this model took place on August 13, 1997, and it entered service in 1998 with Canada 3000 as the first operator.
The A330-200 is a shortened version of the A330-300, with a fuselage length of 58.82 m. Thanks to increased fuel tank capacity and reduced weight, this aircraft can cover a distance of up to 13,450 km, carrying up to 253 passengers in a three-class configuration. This aircraft is equipped with advanced fly-by-wire systems and a modern glass cockpit, which enhances its operational efficiency.
Engines and performance:
The A330-200 offers a choice of three types of engines: General Electric CF6-80E, Pratt & Whitney PW4000, and Rolls-Royce Trent 700. This allows airlines to tailor the aircraft to their operational needs. In 2008, Airbus introduced the A330-200HGW (High Gross Weight) version, which allows for an increase in maximum takeoff weight and range, making it competitive with modern models such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Applications and popularity:
The Airbus A330-200 is widely used by airlines around the world due to its versatility and economy. It is the second most delivered wide-body passenger aircraft after the Boeing 777. As of April 2024, 661 units of this model have been ordered, of which 656 have been delivered, and 572 are still in operation.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. Assembly requires separately sold modeling tools (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and glue for plastic models (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
