Plastic model kit: American Bantam Reconnaissance Car 1:24 Asuka 24-005
This plastic model kit represents the American light utility vehicle Bantam BRC-40 in 1:24 scale. This vehicle was the precursor to the legendary Jeep and played a key role in the early automotive phase of the US Army during World War II.
The Bantam BRC (Bantam Reconnaissance Car) was developed in response to the urgent demand of the American army for a lightweight 4x4 reconnaissance vehicle. The American Bantam company from Pennsylvania was the only one able to deliver a prototype within the strict deadline of 49 days. Although ultimately the designs by Willys and Ford became the standard for the US Army, the Bantam BRC-40 was produced in series (about 2600 units) and was mainly supplied to British and Soviet units under the Lend-Lease program.
Model features:- Detailed representation of the sidevalve engine.
- Accurately rendered details of the chassis and 4x4 drivetrain.
- Rubber tires with realistic tread pattern.
- The kit includes decals for three paint schemes: two American (including the famous "Just Married" version) and one British from the North African campaign (Libya, 1942).
- Tamiya: XF-62 (Olive Drab), XF-59 (Desert Yellow), XF-23 (Light Blue), XF-26 (Deep Green), XF-1 (Flat Black), XF-2 (Flat White), X-10 (Gun Metal).
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
