About the MRAP M1240A1 M-ATV vehicle:

The Oshkosh M-ATV (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle) is an armored vehicle designed by Oshkosh Corporation as part of the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle program. Its main purpose was to replace older HMMWV (Humvee) models and provide better protection and mobility in challenging terrains such as Afghanistan. The first M-ATV vehicles were delivered in July 2009, and by the end of the year, Oshkosh achieved the capability to produce 1,000 vehicles per month. A total of 8,722 vehicles were delivered to various units of the U.S. Armed Forces. In 2015, Oshkosh began the process of upgrading M-ATV vehicles, introducing improvements such as an automatic fire extinguishing system and reduced acoustic signature.
