The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, known as the "Flying Fortress," is one of the most iconic American long-range heavy bombers from World War II. The project originated in response to the 1934 US Army requirement for a multi-engine bomber capable of carrying a large bomb load over significant distances. The G version was the last and most widely produced variant of this machine, introduced to eliminate the defensive weak points against frontal attacks by German fighters.

Academy's 1:72 scale model depicts the B-17G version in the special "Nose Art" edition, characterized by unique graphic markings on the aircraft noses. The kit allows for a faithful reproduction of the silhouette of this powerful low-wing aircraft, equipped with four Wright GR-1820-97 Cyclone radial engines with superchargers.
