History of the B-26F Marauder: The B-26F Marauder is an American medium bomber that played a key role during World War II. Its most significant modification was the change in wing design, which allowed for a reduction in takeoff distance by about 90 meters and a decrease in takeoff speed and landing distance. Production of the B-26F began at the Baltimore factory in February 1944, and the first units were delivered to the 9th Air Force of the USA in the UK in the spring of 1945.

The B-26F Marauder was primarily used in Europe, but also in the Mediterranean and Pacific regions. A total of 300 units of this model were produced. This aircraft gained the reputation of a "widowmaker" due to the high accident rate in the early models; however, after crew training and aerodynamic modifications, it became one of the safest bombers used by the United States Army Air Forces.

The B-26 Marauder was used in many theaters of war, including Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Pacific. In Europe, these aircraft were used for tactical support of Allied forces, as well as for attacks on strategic targets such as bridges and V-1 launch sites. In the final phase of the war in Europe, the B-26 was considered the most accurate bomber available to the 9th Air Force.

The B-26 Marauder ended World War II with the lowest loss rate among all bombers of the United States Army Air Forces. A total of 5,288 units of this aircraft were produced, of which 522 were used by the Royal Air Force and the South African Air Force. After the war, all B-26s were retired from American service, replaced by other models.
