Plastic military model kit: BA-3 Armored Car 1:35 Zvezda 3546
The BA-3 was a medium, six-wheeled armored car of Soviet design, which played a significant role in the initial period of World War II. Developed in 1934 as a successor to the BA-I, it stood out from contemporary designs due to its powerful armament. The designers decided to mount a turret from the T-26 light tank onto the truck chassis, which made it one of the most heavily armed vehicles in its class in the world.
The vehicle was characterized by the following historical features:
- The main armament was the 20K wz. 1932 tank gun, 45 mm caliber.
- Additional equipment included two 7.62 mm DT machine guns.
- Propulsion was provided by a GAZ-A gasoline engine with 40 hp.
- These vehicles took part in battles on the Khalkhin Gol River against Japanese troops, in the Winter War with Finland, and in the initial phase of the Great Patriotic War.
Despite its heavy armament, the BA-3 suffered from technical problems resulting from the overloading of the chassis, which limited its mobility in difficult terrain. Approximately 180 units of this model were produced by 1935.
The Zvezda plastic model kit, catalog number 3546, allows for a faithful reproduction of this historical design in 1:35 scale. The set includes plastic parts and a decal sheet.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are required (including sprue cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
