Plastic model car kit: Benz Patent-Motorwagen 1886 with Mrs. Benz and sons 1:24 ICM 24041
The 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen is a vehicle that has permanently inscribed itself in the pages of history as the first car fully deserving of that title. Karl Benz's design, patented in January 1886, was a milestone in the development of global motoring. This three-wheeled vehicle was powered by a single-cylinder internal combustion engine with a capacity of about 980 cm3, generating less than 1 HP. Although the design was ingenious, it was the feat of the constructor's wife, Berta Benz, that brought it renown. In August 1888, without her husband's knowledge, she set off with her two sons on the first long-distance journey from Mannheim to Pforzheim, covering a distance of about 194 km and thus proving the practical usability of the internal combustion automobile.
The ICM model kit allows for the construction of a faithful replica of this historic vehicle along with figures commemorating the famous journey. The model is characterized by high attention to detail, reproducing the delicate steel tube frame and the complex drive mechanism.
