Description
Plastic military model for assembly: Bergepanzer 2A2 1:35 Takom 2135
The Bergepanzer 2 is a German tracked technical recovery vehicle, the design of which was based on the chassis of the Leopard 1 main battle tank. The vehicle was developed on behalf of the Bundeswehr to provide technical support to armored units equipped with the then-new Leopard tanks. The use of the hull, running gear, and the MTU MB 838 Ca-M 500 engine with 830 HP allowed for maintaining high mobility and facilitating the logistics of spare parts.
The Bergepanzer 2A2 version, introduced into service around 1978, was a modernization of the basic variant. The main change was the use of a more powerful crane, which allowed for more efficient handling of heavier components of modern combat vehicles. The vehicle's defensive armament usually consists of two 7.62 mm MG3 machine guns.
The Takom model with catalog number 2135 is a detailed replica of this specialized vehicle in 1:35 scale. The set is characterized by high quality of execution and precise reproduction of the technical details characteristic of the A2 version.
