Messerschmitt Bf 109 – Historical background:

The Messerschmitt Bf 109, designed by Willy Messerschmitt and Robert Lusser, was one of the most advanced fighters of its time. Its design featured an all-metal fuselage, a closed cockpit, and retractable landing gear, making it modern and effective in combat. Powered by a liquid-cooled V12 engine, the Bf 109 was capable of performing various combat missions, from interception to escorting bombers and ground attacks.

The first flight of the Bf 109 took place on May 29, 1935, and it entered operational service in 1937, participating in the Spanish Civil War. During World War II, the Bf 109 was present on almost all European fronts, and its production continued until April 1945, reaching an impressive total of 34,248 units produced. This aircraft was used by many countries both during and after the war.

The Bf 109 was a favorite aircraft of many ace pilots, including the three highest-scoring pilots in history, who collectively shot down 928 enemy aircraft. The most famous of them was Erich Hartmann, who achieved 352 victories. Other notable pilots include Hans-Joachim Marseille, who shot down 158 aircraft during the North African campaign, and Ilmari Juutilainen from Finland, who scored 58 of his 94 confirmed victories flying the Bf 109.

Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. To assemble, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
