History of the battleship Bismarck: Bismarck was the pride of the German Kriegsmarine fleet and one of the most modern ships of its time. In May 1941, along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, it set out on a mission aimed at disrupting Allied shipping in the Atlantic. During this operation, the famous battle with the British fleet took place, in which Bismarck sank HMS Hood, one of the most important ships of the Royal Navy.
However, after this success, Bismarck was located by British forces and became the target of an intense pursuit. As a result of an attack by British Swordfish torpedo bombers, Bismarck was damaged, significantly limiting its maneuverability. Ultimately, after a fierce battle, the battleship was sunk by torpedoes fired from British ships, which ended its short but turbulent career at sea. Nearly 1,900 crew members lost their lives as a result of the sinking of Bismarck.
