Description
Plastic military model for assembly: BM-13-16 on G7107 chassis 1:35 ICM 35595
The plastic model of the Soviet self-propelled rocket launcher BM-13-16, commonly known as Katyusha, mounted on the chassis of the Chevrolet G7107 truck. These vehicles began arriving in the Soviet Union from the USA in 1942 as part of the Lend-Lease program. The total number of these machines in the Red Army amounted to approximately 47,000 units.
History and characteristics of the original:
The Chevrolet G7107 was valued by soldiers for its reliability, maneuverability, and good off-road capabilities. Between 1942 and 1943, many of these chassis served as a base for rocket artillery systems. The launchers equipped with 16 guides for 132 mm caliber rockets constituted a powerful weapon with a range of about 8.5 km. The projectile's muzzle velocity was about 355 m/s, making Katyusha salvos extremely effective and often decisive in the outcome of combat operations.
Model features:
- Faithfully reproduced chassis and launcher layout.
- The set includes rocket mock-ups.
- Available in 2 marking variants.
- Detailed recreation of the Chevrolet BV-1001-UP engine (6-cylinder, 3.9 l).
