Historical background:
During World War II, the Soviet Union received various equipment from the United States under the Lend-Lease program, including Chevrolet trucks. The G7117 model, which was a modification with a winch at the front, was used in many roles, from infantry transport to artillery tractors. After the war, these reliable vehicles served in the Soviet Army until the mid-1950s.
The Katyusha, also known as BM-13, was one of the first mass-produced rocket artillery systems in the USSR. Its mobility and ability to quickly relocate after firing a salvo made it an extremely effective weapon. Although less precise than traditional artillery guns, the Katyusha could deliver a huge amount of explosive material to the battlefield in a short time, which had a powerful psychological effect on the enemy. The Katyushas were initially a secret project, operated by special NKVD units. The first combat use occurred on July 14, 1941, near Rudnya, where German armed forces were destroyed, causing panic and retreat. German soldiers nicknamed the Katyusha "Stalin's organs" due to the distinctive sound of the launched rockets and their visual resemblance to pipe organs.
