Plastic model kit: Bonhomme Richard 1:500 Smer 0906
A plastic model kit depicting the famous American sailing frigate USS Bonhomme Richard in 1:500 scale. This vessel went down in history as the flagship of John Paul Jones during the American Revolutionary War.
History of the original:The USS Bonhomme Richard was launched in 1766 in France as the Duc de Duras, a merchant ship intended for the French East India Company. In 1779, King Louis XVI transferred the vessel to the United States, and John Paul Jones took command. The ship's name was changed in honor of Benjamin Franklin (author of the almanac "Poor Richard's Almanack"). The most famous moment in the frigate's history was the Battle of Flamborough Head in September 1779, where after a fierce engagement with the British HMS Serapis, the USS Bonhomme Richard sank, achieving a strategic victory.
