Description
Plastic aircraft model for assembly: Bristol Beaufort Mk.IA with tropical filters 1:48 ICM 48311
The Bristol Beaufort was a British twin-engine, all-metal bomber-torpedo aircraft that played a key role in RAF Coastal Command operations during World War II. Designed by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, it entered service in late 1939. The Mk.IA version featured an improved gun turret (similar to that on the Bristol Blenheim bomber) and the installation of ASV radars used for detecting surface targets.
The presented model depicts a variant equipped with tropical filters on the carburetor air intakes, which was essential for operating in the harsh climatic conditions of the Mediterranean and North Africa. These aircraft effectively combated Axis convoys and ships, and also participated in mining enemy waters and patrolling shipping lanes.
