Description
Plastic model aircraft for assembly: Bristol Bulldog Mk.IIA 1:48 Airfix 05145
The Bristol Bulldog Mk.IIA is one of the most characteristic British fighters of the interwar period. This elegant biplane with a metal structure covered in fabric was a symbol of the RAF's power in the 1930s. Designed by Frank Barnwell at the Bristol Aeroplane Company, the Bulldog was powered by a 480 hp Bristol Jupiter VIIF engine, making it one of the most advanced machines of its time.
Although the Bulldog never saw combat during its seven-year service in Fighter Command, it went down in history thanks to incredible aerobatic displays that attracted crowds at British air shows. It was also the first British aircraft equipped as standard with a radio set and an oxygen system for the pilot.
Set characteristics:- Precisely reproduced fabric structure on the fuselage and wings.
- Detailed cockpit including the fuselage frame, ammunition bays, and machine gun breeches.
- New parts for the Mk.IIA version: wide undercarriage with metal wheels, tail wheel, and a later type of vertical stabilizer and rudder.
- Optional exhaust pipes with cabin heating and shell casings.
- Modernized cylinder heads for the Bristol Jupiter VIIF engine.
- Additional details: photo-etched parts, wing-mounted generators, bomb racks, and landing flares.
- Design developed based on over 1000 original technical drawings from the Bristol company.
