History of the QF 6 pdr Mk-II gun:
The British anti-tank gun QF 6 pdr Mk-II, also known as the 6-pounder, was introduced into the British Army's arsenal in 1941. It was a 57 mm caliber gun that quickly gained a reputation as an effective tool in the fight against German tanks. Its first combat use took place in the North African theater of operations, where it achieved spectacular success. With a high rate of fire of up to 15 rounds per minute, this gun was capable of penetrating the armor of most German armored vehicles of that period.
Even the introduction of heavy "Tiger" tanks by the Germans in the second half of 1942 did not provide them with full protection against the 6-pounder shells. This gun was so effective that its production was also undertaken in the United States, where it was designated as M1. As part of the Lend-Lease program, 400 units of this gun were delivered to the Soviet Union, where they were actively used in battles on the Eastern Front during the Great Patriotic War.
