Plastic model kit: British Army Sherman V (M4A4) 1:35 Asuka 35-016
This plastic model kit represents the British medium tank Sherman V (American designation M4A4) from World War II. The set allows for the construction of a miniature of one of the most important armored vehicles used by Allied forces, characterized by an elongated hull to accommodate the Chrysler Multibank engine.
Historical background:
The M4A4, known in British service as the Sherman V, was a version produced mainly for the Lend-Lease program. Equipped with a unique powertrain consisting of five automotive engines combined into one unit, it required a longer hull, which became its distinguishing feature. The British extensively used these tanks during the Normandy campaign and in battles in Northwestern Europe, where they formed the backbone of their armored divisions.
- High-quality sprues with precisely reproduced details of the hull and turret.
- Photo-etched parts to enhance the realism of small details.
- Tracks made of flexible material (vinyl/rubber).
- Transparent visor elements.
- A decal set allowing for the model to be finished in the colors of British and Polish units (including the 1st Armored Division of General Maczek).
- Tank commander figure included in the set.
Suggested painting schemes:
- 2nd Irish Guards, Guards Armoured Division, Normandy, August 1944.
- 29th Armoured Brigade, 11th Armoured Division, Normandy, July 1944.
- 1st Armored Division (Poland), 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade, Great Britain, Spring 1944.
- Unit unknown, Caen, July 1944.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
