History of the QF 25pdr Mk.II/I gun: The QF 25-pounder field gun (caliber 87.6 mm) was designed as a successor to the older 18-pounder guns and 4.5-inch howitzers used by the British army during World War I. The new weapon was intended to combine the features of a field gun and a howitzer, allowing for both direct and indirect fire. As a result, the 25-pounder became the primary field gun of the British army and its dominions during World War II.

The QF 25pdr Mk.II/I gun was known for its versatility and reliability. It could fire a variety of ammunition types, including high-explosive, smoke, armor-piercing, illuminating, and incendiary shells. Thanks to the use of separate loading ammunition, the gun achieved a high rate of fire, making it extremely effective on the battlefield.

Service and application: The 25-pounder gun was used on all fronts of World War II, including campaigns in North Africa, Normandy, and Western Europe.
