History and characteristics of the original
The De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk is a Canadian training aircraft in a low-wing configuration, which became the successor to the legendary Tiger Moth. First flown in 1946, it quickly gained recognition for its excellent flying qualities and high maneuverability. The aircraft was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a primary training aircraft, as well as by numerous air forces around the world, including in Belgium, Portugal, and Egypt. The Chipmunk remains a popular aircraft in civil aviation today, valued for its reliability and classic design.
