History and significance of the aircraft: The De Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth is a British biplane from the 1930s, designed by Geoffrey de Havilland and produced by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. This aircraft was widely used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a primary training aircraft. During World War II, the Tiger Moth served various roles, including training, patrol, and even as a light bomber.

At the beginning of the war, the RAF had about 500 Tiger Moths, and hundreds more were requisitioned from flying clubs across the country. This aircraft was known for its ease of piloting, making it an ideal choice for beginner pilots. Although it was easy to master, it required skill to fly well, which was crucial in training fighter pilots.
