Original F-104 Starfighter:

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is an American single-engine supersonic interceptor fighter. Designed as a day fighter by Lockheed, it became one of the aircraft in the "Century Series" for the United States Air Force (USAF). In the 1960s, it was developed into a multirole version capable of operating in all weather conditions and was widely used as a fighter-bomber during the Cold War.

The F-104 Starfighter was used by fifteen NATO and allied air forces, often longer than by the USAF. In 1958, West Germany selected the F-104 as its primary fighter, soon joined by Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, and Italy. European countries formed a production consortium, which was the largest international production program in history up to that point.

The Starfighter was the first mass-produced aircraft to achieve a speed of Mach 2 and an altitude of 100,000 feet (30,000 m) after taking off under its own power. In 1958, it set world records for speed, altitude, and rate of climb, becoming the first aircraft to simultaneously hold all three records. Despite its achievements, the Starfighter had a poor safety reputation, especially in Luftwaffe service, where it earned the nickname "Witwenmacher" (widow maker) due to numerous accidents.

Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. To assemble, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
