History and significance of the F-15J Eagle: The F-15J Eagle is an interceptor fighter that has been the backbone of the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force since the 1980s. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) was the third user of the F-15 in the world, after the United States and Israel. This aircraft replaced older F-104J models, offering significantly better performance and combat capabilities.
The F-15J was introduced into service in 1981 and has since undergone many upgrades, including the Multi-Stage Improvement Program (MSIP), which included modernization of electronic systems and armament. As a result, the F-15J remains one of the most advanced fighters in the JASDF arsenal.
Japanese F-15Js are equipped with unique systems, such as the Japanese data link system J/ASW-10, which allows cooperation with early warning systems like the E-2C. These aircraft are also adapted to carry domestic air-to-air missiles AAM-3.
The F-15J Eagle is stationed at several air bases in Japan, including Chitose, Nyutabaru, Hyakuri, Komatsu, and Tsuiki, where it serves in various fighter squadrons. Its role in Japan's air defense is invaluable, and this aircraft is regularly upgraded to meet new challenges and threats.
