Plastic model kit: Fiat CR-42 Falco 1:40 Smer 0823

The Fiat CR.42 Falco was an Italian, all-metal biplane fighter that played a significant role in the initial phase of World War II. First flown in 1936, it entered service in 1939 as the successor to the successful CR.32 model. This aircraft was the pinnacle of biplane design, characterized by exceptional maneuverability and excellent handling qualities.

Despite its advantages, when facing modern British monoplanes, the CR.42 proved to be an obsolete design – it was too slow and insufficiently armed. For this reason, after initial combat, it was relegated to close air support duties in North Africa and night harassment operations. Eventually, many examples ended their service as training aircraft. A total of 1781 units of this aircraft were produced.
