Plastic model aircraft for assembly: Fokker Dr.I 1:72 Smer 0877

The Fokker Dr.I is one of the most recognizable aircraft from the World War I era. This German triplane fighter was created as a response to the British Sopwith Triplane machine. Anthony Fokker and Reinhold Plat were responsible for the design. Although the aircraft was not the fastest (it reached a maximum speed of about 165 km/h), it was characterized by phenomenal maneuverability and a very high rate of climb, which gave it a huge advantage in dogfights over contemporary biplanes.

The machine gained immortal fame thanks to aviation aces such as Werner Voss or the legendary Manfred von Richthofen, known as the "Red Baron". It was on the Fokker Dr.I that Richthofen achieved many of his spectacular victories. Serial examples reached the front in October 1917 and served until the end of the war. A total of 320 units of this machine were produced.
