History and Background of the Ford Focus WRC 2001:

The Ford Focus WRC 2001 is a car that, despite retaining its characteristic shape, underwent significant structural changes, making it a completely new vehicle. A key element of these changes was entrusting the development of the engine to Cosworth, resulting in the creation of a new, lighter, and more efficient Zetec.L power unit. This engine operates in the range of 3000 to 6800 revolutions per minute, allowing the Focus to effectively compete with its main rivals on rally stages.

In 2001, the Ford Focus WRC debuted at the Monte Carlo Rally, the first round of the World Championship. Behind the wheel of this model, Carlos Sainz and Luis Moya secured second place, demonstrating the potential of this car. Although Ford did not win at that time, and Colin McRae and Francois Delecour were delayed by minor mechanical issues, the Focus WRC showed that it was capable of competing at the highest level.
