History of the Renault FT:

The Renault FT was constructed in 1917 and was the first tank to introduce an innovative design with a combat compartment at the front, armament in a fully rotating turret, and a power compartment at the rear. This innovative design became a model for future tank projects around the world.

This tank was intended to support infantry, which meant it developed a relatively low speed. Its compact size was both an advantage and a challenge, especially in the context of overcoming trenches and entrenchments. This problem was solved by adding a “tail” – a special structure mounted at the rear of the hull.

The Renault FT 75 BS is a version of the tank equipped with a "blockhaus Schneider" 75 mm gun.
