Historical background:
The G506 series trucks, to which the G7117 model belongs, were produced by Chevrolet Motor Division as part of the standard equipment of the U.S. Army during World War II. They were light to medium trucks with four-wheel drive that served various functions, from cargo transport to specialized tasks such as mobile workshops.
During the war, the U.S. Army purchased a total of 167,373 1.5-ton 4x4 trucks, most of which were supplied by Chevrolet. The G7117 model, part of this series, was one of the most commonly used vehicles of its type. Interestingly, about 47,700 trucks of the G7107 and G7117 models were sent to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease program. This program significantly improved the logistics and transport capabilities of the Red Army, which was crucial in military operations in 1943 and beyond.
