Model specifications:
- Scale: 1:72
- Manufacturer: First To Fight
- Catalog number: PL121
History and description of the vehicle:
Sd.Kfz.247, also known as schwerer geländegängiger gepanzerter Personenkraftwagen, was a German armored command vehicle from World War II. The Ausf. B version depicted by this model was produced during the war and was based on a modern 4x4 chassis, making it more mobile and suited for difficult terrain conditions.
This vehicle was powered by an 8-cylinder Horch engine with an output of 81 HP, providing adequate power for traversing challenging terrain. The Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf. B body was open-topped and lightly armored, designed to protect against 7.92 mm anti-tank rounds from a distance of 30 meters. Although the vehicle was not standardly armed, there was the possibility of mounting a MG 34 or MG 42 machine gun, primarily for anti-aircraft defense.
It is worth noting that although the Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf. B was not equipped with a radio, some examples had radio antennas and additional armor plates in the crew compartment, which increased their functionality on the battlefield.
The Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf. B was often used by commanders of motorcycle or motorized reconnaissance battalions. Its design and equipment made it an ideal vehicle for command and coordination of actions on the front, even though it was not intended for direct combat involvement.
