Plastic model kit of a motorcycle: German R-12 motorcycle with sidecar and crew 1:35 Zvezda 3607
A plastic model kit depicting the German BMW R-12 motorcycle along with a sidecar and crew figures. The BMW R-12 was one of the most popular motorcycles in the German army during World War II, produced between 1935 and 1942. Thanks to its reliability and solid construction, this machine found use on all fronts of the conflict, serving roles from liaison and reconnaissance vehicle to a mobile firing position equipped with a machine gun.
Historical Background:
BMW R-12 debuted in 1935 as the successor to the R11 model. It was a breakthrough vehicle, being the first to widely implement an oil-damped telescopic front fork. Powered by a two-cylinder boxer engine with about 18-20 HP, it could reach speeds up to 120 km/h. The military version often featured a sidecar, allowing for the transport of an additional soldier or the mounting of armament such as MG34 or MG42 machine guns. By the end of production in 1942, approximately 36,000 units were manufactured, making it the most numerous motorcycle in the Wehrmacht.
