Plastic figure kit for assembly and painting: German Paratroopers 1939-1942 1:35 Zvezda 3628
A set of plastic figures for assembly depicting the elite formation of German airborne troops - Fallschirmjäger, during the period of their greatest operational successes in 1939-1942. The German parachute troops, officially established in 1936 and subordinate to the Luftwaffe, became a symbol of modern blitzkrieg warfare. Thanks to close cooperation with transport aviation, including the legendary Ju-52 aircraft, these units played a key role in the campaigns of the initial stage of World War II.
The most famous and at the same time bloodiest operation involving them was Operation "Mercury" – the landing on Crete carried out in May 1941. Despite huge losses, the determination of the paratroopers allowed for the capture of the island, which earned them the respect of the Allies, who nicknamed them the "Green Devils". In the later period of the war, due to the high cost of airborne operations, these formations were mainly used as elite ground infantry units.
