History and characteristics of Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J (VK 16.01):

Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J, also known as VK 16.01, is a special version of the German light tank designed to increase armor protection. Introduced into production in 1942, this model aimed to improve combat capabilities by significantly reinforcing the armor. With these modifications, the Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J became much more resistant to enemy fire, making it more suitable for infantry support roles. However, the increase in weight to 18,000 kg affected its mobility, limiting the maximum speed to 28 km/h.

From April to December 1942, only 22 units of this model were produced. Due to limited production, the Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J did not play a significant role on the battlefields of World War II, but its design represented an interesting experiment in enhancing the armor protection of light tanks.
