Historical background: The 8.8 cm Flak gun, also known as "Acht-acht" (eight-eight), was one of the most recognizable German anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns used during World War II. Developed in the 1930s, it was widely used by Germany throughout the conflict. Its effectiveness as a tank destroyer instilled fear among Allied soldiers.

Originally designed as an anti-aircraft gun, the 8.8 cm Flak was also used in the role of an anti-tank gun, leading to the development of the tank version known as the 8.8 cm KwK 36, used in the Tiger I tank. These versions were mounted on various platforms, including the heavy tanks Tiger II and the tank destroyers Elefant and Jagdpanther.
