History and use: The Gloster Gladiator was the last British biplane fighter to enter service in the 1930s. The Sea Gladiator Mk.II version, designed for the Royal Navy, was equipped with a three-blade propeller, a stowage for a life raft, and a landing hook for aircraft carriers. These aircraft operated from the decks of aircraft carriers such as HMS Glorious, HMS Furious, and HMS Eagle, as well as from land airfields, including Malta.
The Sea Gladiator Mk.II played a significant role in campaigns such as the Battle of Norway, the Battle of Britain, and operations in the Mediterranean Sea. A total of 746 units of this model were produced between 1936 and 1938.
