Description
Plastic model kit: Greek trireme 1:72 Zvezda 8514
Historical background: The trireme was the main type of warship in the Mediterranean during the Greco-Persian wars (5th-4th century BC). The main weapon of the trireme was a bronze-covered ram - a continuation of the keel beam.
The speed of the trireme with oars reached 18 km/h.
The sail set consisted of a large square sail and a small one mounted on an inclined mast at the bow of the ship. The masts could be removed. During battle, the trireme accelerated and broke the enemy's oars, thus depriving them of progress. It then struck them with the ram.
The crew of the trireme numbered over two hundred people. It included rowers, deck sailors, and heavily armed hoplites.
Set of plastic parts to assemble one ship model.
Assembly and painting kit. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
