Description
Plastic model airplane to assemble: Grumman F6F-3/5 Hellcat 1:72 Italeri 91213
The Grumman F6F Hellcat is an American single-engine carrier fighter from World War II that became a key element of U.S. air superiority in the Pacific. This design was developed as an extension of the F4F Wildcat model, taking into account combat experience and pilot feedback. The most significant design change was the adoption of a low-wing configuration, which allowed for a wider wheelbase and improved stability when operating from aircraft carrier decks.
The model allows for the construction of the aircraft in either the F6F-3 or F6F-5 version. The kit stands out with a rich decal sheet enabling the model to be finished in one of six historical paint schemes, including those from U.S. Navy units and the British Fleet Air Arm (FAA).
- Scale: 1:72
- Ability to build F6F-3 or F6F-5 version
- Super decal sheet for 6 painting versions
- Detailed cockpit and Pratt-Whitney R-2800-10 radial engine
- Optional armaments, including an additional fuel tank
The historical paint variants included in the kit comprise:
- F-6F-5, US Navy, VF-27, USS Princeton, October 1944 (with the characteristic shark mouth)
- F-6F-5, US Navy, VF-83, USS Essex, May 1945
- F-6F-3, US Navy, VF-1, USS Yorktown, June 1944
- F-6F-3, US Navy, VF-33, Ondonga, December 1943
- F6F-3, FAA, 804 Squadron, HMS Emperor, May 1944
- Hellcat Mk.II, FAA, 800 Squadron, HMS Emperor, 1945
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
