We present the Gunpla MS-06F Zaku II model kit in 1:144 scale, which is part of the Real Grade (RG) series. This set, released in 2011, is an excellent choice for fans of the Mobile Suit Gundam series and model-making enthusiasts. The model depicts the mass-produced mobile combat suit of the Principality of Zeon, known from the popular anime series.

Features and mechanisms of the model:

Articulation:

• The head rotates on a ball joint, and the mono-eye mechanism moves when the head turns.
• The shoulder joints can extend and rotate forward.
• The arms can rotate on a peg-and-socket joint and lift horizontally.
• The shoulder armor and shields are movable, allowing for greater freedom of arm movement.
• The elbows and knees are double-jointed.
• The manipulators rotate on a ball joint, and each finger has 3+1+1 articulation.
• The waist rotates 360 degrees.
• The front, side, and rear armors are movable, preventing collisions with the legs.
• The hip joints can tilt forward and backward.
• The upper thighs can rotate and lift on a ball joint.
• The ankles can tilt and rotate.

Weapons and other mechanisms:

• The cockpit can be opened and closed.
• The hands are interchangeable, and each weapon can be held by the articulated hands.
• The weapons have built-in tabs for grip stability.
• The magazine of the machine gun can be detached and mounted on the waist armor.
• The Heat Hawk can be stored on the side or back of the waist armor.
• The Bazooka can be stored on the rear waist armor thanks to the built-in joint.

Tips and tricks:

• For better effect, some details can be highlighted with Gundam markers.
• It is recommended to use a protective varnish (e.g., Mr. Hobby) to secure the stickers. For PP parts, water-based varnish is recommended.
• When using matte varnish, avoid covering transparent parts, which can be achieved through masking or separate varnishing.
• Ensure that the arm joints are well assembled to avoid assembly issues.
• Caution is advised with weapon tabs, as the wrist joint may cause them to detach if not properly secured.

Gunpla is an abbreviation of GUNdamPLAstic model. Models do not require glue or (mostly) painting. They are based on the Japanese series - Gundam - which debuted in Japan in 1979 and featured giant combat robots, reaching heights of up to 18 meters, piloted by humans.

Assembly kit. To assemble, you will need modeling nippers (to cut the model parts from the frames), which are not included in the set. It is also worth equipping yourself with a modeling knife (or a utility knife). The photo shows a professionally assembled model.
