History of Harbin Z-5
The Harbin Z-5 was developed based on the Soviet Mil Mi-4 helicopter, the design plans of which were transferred to China by the Soviet Union shortly before the Sino-Soviet split in 1958. The first flight of the Z-5 took place in the same year, and mass production began in the mid-1960s in Harbin, China. A total of 558 units of this helicopter were produced.
The Z-5 was widely used by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the Chinese Air Force (PLAAF), and the Chinese Navy (PLANAF) as reserve air forces. During its service, some Z-5 units were modified to carry machine guns and rocket launchers, which increased their versatility on the battlefield.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools are needed (including cutters, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and glue for plastic models (e.g. Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
