Plastic model aircraft kit: Hawker Hurricane Mk.I 1:48 Airfix 05127A
The Hawker Hurricane is a British single-seat, single-engine metal-framed fighter aircraft with fabric elements from the World War II era. Operating on all fronts, the Hurricane earned a reputation as one of the best and most versatile aircraft of its time, serving as both a fighter and an attack aircraft. The most notable chapter in the history of this machine was its significant contribution to the victory in the Battle of Britain in 1940.
The aircraft was designed by Sydney Camm for the Ministry of Defence. The prototype, powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin Mk.II engine, took to the air on November 6, 1935. The first machines entered service with No. 111 Squadron RAF in December 1937. At the outbreak of war in September 1939, the RAF had 19 squadrons of Hurricanes ready for combat.
The Airfix A05127A kit allows for the construction of the Mk.I version, which was the first mass-produced variant of this legendary fighter.
