Description
Plastic model airplane to assemble: Hawker Tempest Mk. V Post War 1:72 Airfix 02110
The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was one of the most powerful piston fighters of World War II, representing the pinnacle of Sydney Camm's design achievements. Derived from the Hurricane and Typhoon lineage, the Tempest featured a new, thin wing with a laminar flow profile, allowing for spectacular speeds and excellent flying characteristics at low and medium altitudes.
The Mk.V version entered service with the RAF in early 1944. These aircraft became particularly renowned for their effective combat against German V-1 flying bombs and their ability to engage on equal terms with the jet fighters Messerschmitt Me 262. After the war, Tempests continued to serve in Europe, including in occupied Germany.
