Description
Plastic model aircraft kit: Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB "Car Door" 1943 1:48 Hobby 2000 48045
Plastic model of the British fighter Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB in the version with the early type of cockpit canopy, colloquially called "Car Door" due to the way the cockpit entry opens. The set prepared by Hobby 2000 in 1:48 scale contains high-quality sprues and new decals allowing for the construction of the model in historical colors from 1943.
The Hawker Typhoon was one of the most powerful British fighters of World War II. Designed as a successor to the Hurricane, it initially struggled with teething problems, but after refining the design, it became an extremely effective ground-attack machine. The Mk. IB version was characterized by powerful armament in the form of four Hispano 20 mm cannons. Early examples featured a distinctive framed canopy with a door on the right side before the later bubble canopy was introduced.
The set offers the possibility of building the model in one of three paint schemes:
- No. 183 Sqn. DN334/HF-D (F/O Eugeniusz Gottowt) - March 1943 - RAF Cranfield
- No. 195 Sqn. EK273/JE-DT (S/L Donald M. Taylor) - May 1943 - RAF Ludham
- No. 609 Sqn. R7752/PR-G (S/L Roland P. Beamont) - April 1943 - RAF Manston
It is worth noting the Polish accent in the form of the livery of the machine flown by Polish pilot Eugeniusz Gottowt in the colors of No. 183 Squadron RAF.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. For assembly, separately sold modeling tools (including nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement) are required. The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
