The Heinkel He 111 was a German medium-range bomber that gained fame due to its distinctive glazed nose and wide use in the Luftwaffe. The H-2 and H-3 versions were primarily used on the Western Front in 1940, including during the Battle of Britain. This aircraft was known for its large bomb load and versatility, allowing it to be adapted for various combat tasks such as strategic bombing, torpedo attacks, or transport.
The Heinkel He 111 was designed by the Gunter brothers at Heinkel Flugzeugwerke in 1934. Initially disguised as a passenger aircraft, it was actually planned from the beginning as a bomber for the newly formed Luftwaffe. During the war, the He 111 was used on all European fronts, from the Atlantic to the Eastern Front, as well as in North Africa and the Middle East.
The kit includes decals that allow for two painting versions, enabling modelers to personalize the model according to their preferences.
The Heinkel He 111 was one of the most produced bombers of the Luftwaffe, with production continuing until 1944. Although it became outdated compared to newer designs over time, its versatility and reliability meant it was used until the end of the war. After the war, He 111 production continued in Spain as CASA 2.111, where it served until the 1970s.
