A plastic model kit depicting a German jet aircraft from World War II - the Heinkel He 162 A-2 Salamander, also known as the Volksjager (People's Fighter). The set was released by Hobby 2000 and is characterized by high quality workmanship and included new decals.

History of the original:
The Heinkel He 162 was one of the most unusual Luftwaffe projects. It was created as part of the Jagernotprogramm (emergency fighter program) in 1944. The goal was to create a cheap, easy-to-fly and easy-to-produce jet that could be operated by young pilots from the Hitler Youth. The aircraft was distinguished by the BMW 003 turbojet engine placed on the back of the fuselage and a construction made largely of wood due to the shortage of strategic metals. Despite the short design time, the machine showed excellent performance, reaching a speed of about 900 km/h.
