History and characteristics of Henschel Hs 129 B-2:

The Henschel Hs 129 was a German ground attack aircraft designed by Henschel Flugzeugwerke AG. Its main task was to provide air support and attack ground targets. This aircraft was developed in response to the experiences gained by the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War, which demonstrated the need for a specialized aircraft to combat ground targets.

The Hs 129 B-2 model, which is the subject of this kit, was introduced into service in early 1943. It was an aircraft adapted for anti-tank roles, responding to the development of Soviet tanks. The B-2/R1 version was armed with two 20 mm MG 151/20 cannons and two 13 mm MG 131 machine guns. The B-2/R2 version introduced an additional 30 mm Mk 103 cannon, while the B-2/R3 replaced the machine guns with a 37 mm BK 3.7 cannon. The most heavily armed version, the B-2/R4, was equipped with a 75 mm PaK 40L cannon.

A total of 866 Hs 129B units were produced, with production ending in the summer of 1944. These aircraft were used until the end of the war, despite their production being halted in the face of Germany's deteriorating military situation.
