Plastic motorcycle model kit: Honda XLR250R (MD22) (1991) "Motard Custom" 1:12 Hasegawa 21779
A plastic model kit depicting the 1991 Honda XLR250R (MD22) motorcycle in a unique "Motard Custom" version. Motard-style motorcycles are off-road machines adapted for paved surfaces by using smaller, 17-inch wheels with road tires.
The kit from Hasegawa allows you to build a detailed replica of this popular Japanese enduro in a modified version. The Honda XLR250R from the MD22 series was valued for its reliability and excellent handling, and the Motard version adds an aggressive, urban character.
Model specification:- Scale: 1:12
- New plastic parts: 17-inch rims, taillight base, and taillight cover
- Molded colors: white (frame, tank, fairings), red (seat, tool bag), black (exhaust system, handlebars), gray (engine, wheels), transparent (lights)
- Chrome parts: headlight reflector
- Extras: metal inlets for side mirrors
The Honda XLR250R debuted as a versatile dual-sport motorcycle. The 1991 MD22 model was equipped with an air-cooled, four-stroke single-cylinder engine with the RFVC (Radial Four Valve Combustion Chamber) system, which provided great torque. "Motard Custom" versions became extremely popular in Japan in the 90s, combining the lightness of an enduro design with the grip of road tires, making them ideal tools for navigating tight urban corners.
Kit for self-assembly and painting. Does not include paints or glue. To assemble, you will need separately sold modeling tools (e.g., nippers, files, tweezers), paints, brushes, and plastic model glue (e.g., Tamiya Extra Thin Cement). The photo shows a professionally assembled and painted model.
