Vehicle history: The Humber Scout Car Mk. I was introduced into service in 1942 and was produced until 1945. Although it did not participate in the North African campaign, it found extensive use on the Italian and Western European fronts. It was a reconnaissance vehicle designed for reconnaissance and communication between armored units. Its design provided protection only against light weapons, making it unsuitable for frontline operations. However, its small size and speed allowed for effective evasion of threats.

During the Normandy landings (D-Day), some vehicles were modified by installing a twin K-gun machine gun, which was intended to enhance their defensive capabilities against air attacks. After the war ended in 1945, the production of the Humber Scout Car was discontinued, and many of these vehicles were transferred to the armies of other countries, such as Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Commonwealth nations, including Malaysia.

The Humber Scout Car Mk. I was used by British armored units, such as the 11th Armoured Division and the Guards Armoured Division, for reconnaissance and communication tasks. Although it was less efficient and reliable than its counterpart, the Daimler Dingo, it found its place in the arsenal of Allied forces. After the war, some of these vehicles were transferred to European armies, and the Belgian army used the Mk II version until 1951.
