The Bronco CB35121 model kit depicts the Hungarian 75 mm 44M Zrínyi I assault gun in 1:35 scale. It is a detailed plastic model that allows you to recreate one of the lesser-known but interesting military vehicles from World War II.

History and background of the vehicle:

The 44M Zrinyi I was a Hungarian assault gun and tank destroyer developed during World War II. The development of this vehicle began based on the successful 43M Zrinyi II model, with the intention of creating a machine better suited for fighting tanks. The Zrinyi I was armed with a long-barreled 75 mm gun, which was also used in the medium tank 43M Turan III.

Development and production:

The Hungarian army recognized the value of assault guns as early as 1940. In 1942, searches began for the possibility of purchasing German assault guns or licenses for their production. Manfred Weiss was commissioned by the Hungarian military command to design and produce the assault gun. The hull of the Turán tank was used, which was widened by 40 cm, and the turret was replaced with a new superstructure. In May 1943, the Hungarian General Staff decided to cease production of Turán tanks in favor of assault guns under the Szabolcs Plan. It was planned to produce 168 units of the 44M Zrinyi, but due to Allied bombings, only four were built, of which only one was fully completed.

The series of Zrinyi vehicles was named in honor of the Hungarian national hero, Nikola IV Zrinski, who died in 1566.
